Delicate pressing with inks which suit the stock perfectly in a tactile piece. The cards will always be handle and therefore needs a level of grain which you can feel clearly.

I have decided to laser cut my front cover based on the result of this piece of design work. Having the colour and feel of a piece of stock be seen through that of a completely different stock is something which could suit a print book well.

Advantages

Multi-colour printing: wet on wet - Possibility to apply multiple prints without intermediate drying
Inexpensive way of printing onto a variety of substrates including glass and ceramics

Can print on convex, concave, curved, recessed and irregular surfaces
Allows wet-on-wet printing leading to a reduced down time.
High resistance of printing inks - Depending on ink type used extremely high resistance against mechanical abrasion or chemicals can be achieved.
Easy handling and little maintenance - Compared to other printing processes pad printing is easy to learn

Limitations

Size of the plate and pad can be limiting.
Printing speed onto substrates which are not an irregular shape can be printed much faster with other methods.
