The task set is to inform and instruct the audience (BA Hons Graphic Design) students of how to avoid the awkward moment when you forget to wear stripes on stripey Friday.
The group shall complete the task by communicating via several mediums, one of which can be explored by using hidden/coded messages on stickers placed around the university buildings and within the studios.
We will also aim to create a private blog or Tumblr account in which only stidensts from the Graphic Design course will subscribe giving them fashion updates, tips on how to never be in the situation of not wearing stripes on a Friday etc. There will also be a poster within the studio area to be constantly reffered too, we will give out a small business card reminder to keep in wallets/purses and have also explored the ideas of punishments and concequences such as providing an item of clothing which will stand out from the stripey croud..
I have began research initially however into hidden meaning messages through the use of stickers around the city of Leeds and how they attract attention by standing out from one another.
Wherever you look on lamposts, substation boxes, railings and even street maps and walls, across Leeds and indeed every City there are thousands of stickers that relate to people within specific social groups. These stickers are made to make you think and even lay the ground works for any major future campaigns that get the mind thinking about the event or product without even knowing what it is.
It would be a great way to cement the feeling of being on the BA Graphic Design course at LCAD as bieng a tigh knit fun and social group, however one must think about the environmental and financial costs of producing and cleaning media when going into any campaign.
