OUGD505 - What is Good - Craft media
Looking into the idea of craft and DIY for a bit more synergy with the couple. I feel the concept of a summer wedding is not strong enough to carry through into the physical aspect of producing the work, therefore the way in which the work is produced can be the vehicle for the concept.
Using craft based technologies and processes will give an element of love and care of over the tactile nature of the wedding set.
I am beginning to look into which websites I would like every guest to be a part of in the wedding, spreading the word of websites such as I Love Paper and Pinterest which are craft heavy in their purpose will allow guests to connect on a digital level in this brief.
Design Work Life
Perhaps 3D work is the way to go on this brief., giving favours or gifts that are DIY kits or models could help tie things together.
Etsy
Pinterest
The couple that I am designing for are both interested in craft and homemade elements to their lives both socially and privately, the bride is creating as much as she can from a craft perspective such as her wedding reception shoes

I want my creative practice in this brief to reflect the love of craft that the couple has, it is my hope that on the day of the wedding this can communicate to the guests in a way they all understand.
Pinterest is perfect for sharing images quickly, I enjoy the idea that the couple can have images of themselves shared by guests on the day, the method of delivery must be easy to understand.

OUGD505 - What is Good - Weddings
I feel that it is a good brief to explore an area of design which I know nothing about, wedding stationary. Often seen and talked about as the rubbish job you get to pay the bills, I think it is good to get this kind of thing understood and under the belt so to speak.
There is a range of very accomplished pieces of design within wedding stationary, all done by successful and established creatives. Although none of these creatives specialise in wedding stationary, they provide excellent results. I would like to develop a range of visual materials to get to know what makes a successful piece of design and why so many pieces are created by "one stop shop" print firms.
Researching into weddings as my what is good.
Eighteen percent of couples ask their guests to arrive in black-tie attire
One in five couples include purple in their wedding color palette
According to Pantone, there are 116 shades of pink
Twenty-five percent of couples have themed weddings
Fifteen percent of wedding receptions are outdoors
One out of every 10 brides doesn't wear white or ivory
Twenty percent of couples have a groom's cake

The most expensive wedding took place in Dubai for a Sheik's son. The wedding cost over £22 million and included a purpose-built stadium
Multimillionaire Peter Shalson and wife Pauline paid £2 million pounds to get Elton John to sing a song at their wedding.

OUGD505 - What is good - Script lettering
Script Lettering
I have lost my focus on hand lettering since Level 04 and so wish to return to cretaing a typeface or at least some lettering for the wedding invites. Investigating the use of hand rendered type is providing me with inspiration to begin sketching and drawing letter forms again, something with I have not had much chance of doing this year.
The stems and ears of the lettering are almost like ligatures and provide an element of illustration and relaxation to the words. I will need to possible use colour when making the lettering for a summer wedding, however the colour scheme is yet to be decided.
Communicating a message with hand lettering can be very subtle, viewers often loose the type or words when seeing the piece of work as a patterned image rather than a sentence or quote. The guests at the wedding will no doubt be able to decipher any script I produce as they are familiar with the names of the bride and groom.
