OUGD505 - What is Good - Weddings

I feel that it is a good brief to explore an area of design which I know nothing about, wedding stationary. Often seen and talked about as the rubbish job you get to pay the bills, I think it is good to get this kind of thing understood and under the belt so to speak.

There is a range of very accomplished pieces of design within wedding stationary, all done by successful and established creatives. Although none of these creatives specialise in wedding stationary, they provide excellent results. I would like to develop a range of visual materials to get to know what makes a successful piece of design and why so many pieces are created by "one stop shop" print firms.

Researching into weddings as my what is good.

Eighteen percent of couples ask their guests to arrive in black-tie attire
One in five couples include purple in their wedding color palette
According to Pantone, there are 116 shades of pink
Twenty-five percent of couples have themed weddings
Fifteen percent of wedding receptions are outdoors
One out of every 10 brides doesn't wear white or ivory
Twenty percent of couples have a groom's cake
